One of the main reasons for mold in todays homes is that they are

not vented adequately. Mold thrives whenever there is moisture and

lack of air movement. The space between the walls of a really tightly

sealed home provides the perfect enviornment. If the area around the

windows or doors were't handled properly moisture can get in. If

water isn't properly carried away from the foundation walls it can

enter through the basement. When the house was built and closed in

the house, especially in the bathroom and kitchen can get in the walls.

    Some types of mold can be toxic and can cause health issues for

you and your family. You can check for the obvious reasons-adequate

ventilation in the bathroom and kitchen and proper grading away from

the foundation. Proper venting with high quality fans and sufficent air

vents will help move moist air out of the house. Make sure your windows

and doors are sealed. Make sure your gutters and downspouts are working

properly and the foundation walls are sealed from the inside or outside.
